The Build-A-Book Literacy Residency
BRING THIS ACCLAIMED PROGRAM TO YOUR SCHOOL!
An exciting in-class program which teaches storywriting and illustration skills from the ground up. Each class will brainstorm characters, plot and setting ideas, and then write the story collaboratively. Next, they’ll create colorful illustrations for their story. Each student will get to keep his/her copy of the story with their original illustrations! (As a second option, each class can create a book to be housed in the school’s library). This highly acclaimed program can be presented in up to four classes per day and conducted over several weeks.
Occasionally, Keith brings childrens book illustrator Emily Lisker with him on the final day of the program!
(available for Grades 1-12)
Illustration Workshops
Not everyone feels like they're a great artist, but the focus here is on originality - not simply drawing ability. This workshop will help students tap into their creativity and problem solving skills - and have a lot of fun doing it!
(grades K-6. 30 student maximum)
Songwriting Workshops
Writing a song is simply a matter of picking something you know about and talking about it honestly. In this workshop, students not only learn the basics of rhythm, rhyme, meter and melody - but also that tying your shoes, missing the bus or eating a gross hot lunch can be the stuff of great music.
Workshops and residencies can be easily linked to curriculum based material.
These highly interactive and educational programs are most effective when partnered with performances, though they are also available separately.
(ages 1-6. 30 student maximum)

Improv Workshops
Let's take it to the stage!
This workshop is all about making it up on the spot! Using a mix of theatrical warm ups and comedy improv games (like the kind you see on "Who's Line Is It Anyway?") we will dive into the fast-paced world of improvisation. This exciting group program teaches teamwork, give/take and creative problem solving in a fun, safe environment.
(Grades 2-12. 30 student maximum per workshop.)
